10 things you didn't know about Alison "VV" Mosshart

One grunge flip of hair, a sip of whiskey in a coffee mug, leather skinny jeans and a ripped shirt, hint of dirty, sexy vocals and you're hooked. She's got you. And who is she?

She is the Rock goddess, Metamorphosis queen, indie rock it girl or...let's make it simpler you can just call her Alison Mosshart.

So, my newest obsession is The Kills front woman. When I start to annoy everybody with it, it's time to take it up with the blog. In my diggings through Alison life, I put together a post on 10 things you don't know about the cool girl of rock.

So sit back, put on The Kills playlist on random and enjoy it.

1. Sunshine state girl. Alison was in a punk rock band in Florida before The Kills. Now, she's been living in London since 2002.

stardust sparked: ALISON MOSSHART FOR EDDIE BORGO JEWELLERY:

2. Artistic Soul. Mosshart juggles 3 jobs: 2 bands and one solo gig as a painter. You can see the canvas on her Instagram. Plus, she's the front woman of the Kills and The Dead Weather.

3. Hair changes: she's done red, platinum blonde and fierce black. It all looks good and cool as hell.

4. She sings with Jack White rumor has it the two are more than just friends. Or at least this super fan wishes that to be real. This couple would be the epitome of cool.

Jack White and Alison Mosshart - The Dead Weather:

5. Mosshart persued Jaimie Hince and bullied him into getting in a band with her, once they started doing music together he was the one to encourage the band momento."I was persistent, and eventually we started writing and he encouraged me". Thank god for it.

Alison Mosshart and Jack White:

6. Supermodel life. Her companion Hince is married to Kate Moss. Alison was the best woman at his weeding.

7. Mosshart has a feud with Moss. Rumour has it that the queen of the runways isn't too fond of the relationship Alison has with Jaimie. Could it because of this little ritual?

8. And of course, she'a a designer too. Alison's just designed a leather jacket for the Parisian fashion group Surface to Air, inspired by a photo of Lou Reed.

Alison Mosshart:

9.Open Road is her thing.  She's writing new Kills songs at the wheel – "literally, with a pen and a paper. Believe me, it's so dangerous..."

10. Inspiration at kindergarten. Her mother, a high school art teacher, entertained her with pens, paints, markers and paper. She would sit in one place and work on her projects for hours at a time.

Shades of Cool

del rey
credits

The question to be asked is... Can Lana Del Rey get any cooler? I really can't see a way. I fell in love with this 29 year old singer and song writer when I first heard Video Games *It's you, it's you, it's all for you, I tell you all the time, Heaven is a place on earth with you* !

Unique and authentic, Lana is the personification of the american beauty. According to Vogue's article, Is the World Ready to Stop Judging Lana Del Rey?, "the world seems to have finally caught on. She now has the room to invent and reinvent herself, to romanticize whatever sad suffering she pleases, and to make lush and cinematic her odd love affair with desperation and aloneness—all without the love-hate whiplash of her early days. Not only her person but also her music stands alone. Lana Del Rey is her own genre." Yes people, stop judging, start listening

To deepen my love for her music, there was Blue Jeans, *I will love you until the end of times, I would wait a million years*, and then, when you realize sometimes things are darker than you expected, she explained love and lost with Born to Die.

Now I'm listening to Ultraviolence, her third studio album, and I'm still loving it. She has her own thing, and I won't get bored easily. This is my suggestion for your sunny Sunday:

Huarache Lights

Have you heard about Hot Chip?

They're a British electronic music band and they have been around since 2000. Hot Chip have recently released their sixth album, Why Make Sense? and I'm obsessed with the first single  -"Huarache Lights" -, which is in loop mode at the moment.

Honestly, this genre of music is not my favorite but this song is kind of cool, kind of deep, perfect to hear when you want to step aside from what's happening around you: I put my headphones on and the world is out.

Here it is, my soundtrack for this week:

Hope you enjoy it!

Soundtrack of the week: NAO

NAO: So Good
Credits

NAO is a 24 year old singer and producer from London taking her first steps as a solo artist. I found her unexpectedly on iTunes and I really love the atmosphere of NAO's songs.

The Extended Play (EP), SO GOOD, spread across the internet to fast and "so good" to be true. The EP is also available on Soundcloud, where you can find more songs of this strong artist, like Good Girl, Adore You and Take Control of You.

I'm hearing NAO's songs on repeat. What about you Crushers?

Just give her a try and relax!

Rebel Heart Baby!

Pop Queen
Credits
Once a rebel, always a rebel. When is Madonna going to stop being awesome? I preview the answer to this question is "never ever". The 56 year old unapologetic singer slash Pop Queen recently released six songs from her new album, Rebel Heart, and I found myself, once again, in love with her.

I've already had the pleasure to see The MDNA Tour in Portugal, which was the first and last time I saw Madonna in the flesh and it was one of the best live concerts I've ever seen. I'm 100% sure that, if she returns with a new tour, I'll be there again jumping around and dancing like a crazy person that just doesn't care! *crossing fingers*

Rebel Heart  featured co-producers like Diplo, Avicii or Kanye West, and after twelve unfinished songs were leaked, Madonna decided to present us with six official tracks: Living for Love, Devil Pray, Ghosttown, Unapologetic Bitch, Illuminati and Bitch I’m Madonna.

According to The New York Timesthe six-song preview of “Rebel Heart” features Madonna’s better side: as a savvy pop ear and musical team leader, and as a lyricist who sometimes ponders sin along with romance and fame.

I completely agree that these songs perfectly fit Madonna's style, it's like she finally returned to her impeccable pop roots and has decided to teach everyone how to do it properly. This is the song I've been listening in loop mode, and my favourite one so far:

"It might sound like I'm an unapologetic bitch,
but sometimes you know I gotta call it like it is"

Wise wise words from The Queen! *dancefloor hit for 2015*

Soundtrack of the week: FKA twigs

Tahliah Debrett Barnett, aka FKA twigs, released her debut album, LP1, in August 2014. Shamefully, only this week I caught this song on the radio, and I instantly thought it was very catchy and relaxing. When I searched for "Two Weeks" on Youtube, I was pleasantly surprised with this cool video.. Check it out:

Oh, and also... She is currently dating Robert Pattinson... You lucky girl!

Welcome to the Jungle

Bring the heat
Credits

Jungle, the band. The founding members, Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland, identified as and T, released their first album singles "Platoon" and "The Heat"at the start of 2013, and what a great start.

Between the modern soul, the electro funk style and some kind of urban details, they build the right atmosphere to relax and dance at the same time. Their debut album, Jungle, was released on July 14 with all the groove that we deserve.

Just feel the heat, move your body and lose your mind!

Crush of the Day: Ben Khan

Savage mode
Credits

I found him unexpectedly on the radio and I already love him. Ben Khan is a 21 year old boy from London and he released this year an Extended Play with four amazing demos, “Savage”, “Youth”, “Eden” and “Drive (Part1)”.
The EP, entitled 1992, is available on Soundcloud and you must give him a try. Ben is already called a neo-soul hero with a hypnotic style between his voice, the melodies and the basslines.

Is electric, deep and mind-blowing. All you can ask.

We want more, Ben Khan!

Beyoncé, aka pure awesomeness.

I already feel that this post doesn't need any more explanation.
She is the sexiest human being alive.

...but, at the same, she does this face and you just can't say no to her.

It is certain that she rules any outfit ever invented...

and she moves like a rockstar.

Then, she does this thing.

After this, of course no one is going to mess with her!

Because she is a diva, 'the female version of a hustla'!

I believe I made my point.

Seriously, she's awesome!

Banks, the goddess

I am so in love with Banks! This is the perfect sound to relax, to study, for the office, even to work out; it’s so pleasant to my ears that I can’t get enough of it! I have to admit I’m addicted to her album. The first song from Banks that I discovered was “This is what it feels like”, and I was immediately curious to hear more from her.

Then, there was “Waiting Game” and she convinced me that she is not just another “one hit wonder”. This American singer is a beauty and her style has been considered “dark R&B”. Her biggest influences are Lauryn Hill and Fiona Apple – that means she is in good hands! Today, I’m hearing “Goddess” on repeat and this is my soundtrack for this rainy week! Just go on YouTube, give her a chance and enjoy, you can thank me later!
