Mindy Kaling is all of us

I recently discovered that I love Mindy Kaling.

As you all probably know, the American actress, writer and producer was the awesome Kelly Kapoor on The Office and she is now the star of her own TV show, The Mindy Project. She is as funny as witty and she is clearly not afraid of making fun of herself, which is something that I can highly relate to.

These are the reasons why Mindy is actually all of us:

1. Just because sometimes you hate your life and everyone around you sucks. Because Mondays, TPM, and 5 sudden extra pounds on the scale. That's why.

2. But you know what? You've been complaining for a whole week and now Friday is here and you don't care any more. So you go all in and this is what happens:

3. And since you are now a hot mess, you decide that you actually look so good on the mirror you need to fix what's on the inside as well. Instant solution: channelling BeyoncĂ©.

4. Problem solved. Time to find the perfect guy because you're a pretty perfect lady who knows what she wants.

5. In the meantime you find the guy and after a while remember that no man will ever understand the mind of a well educated, well fed and even better dressed woman and this is your reaction:

6. And finally, there's no other choice.

Yup, Mindy is awesome and you are too!

The fall of Jamie Dornan

Jamie and Gillian
Credits
Talk about 50 shades of crazy! Jamie Dornan is showing his true colours way before the blockbuster 50 shades of Grey hits the theatres and The Fall is my new favourite obsession!

By the way, I deeply believe that if I was a super hero my power would be finding excellent TV shows with more than one season to watch precisely when I have to study for my finals. Yup, that would be it!

Boring stuff apart, The Fall is a BBC crime drama set in Northern Ireland and our beloved Jamie Dornan plays the serial killer with a job, a wife, two lovely kids, and a very twisted mind.

Gillian Anderson is actually pretty cool as well! She plays a kick ass detective who is afraid of nothing, not even of making out with the hottest Irish detective on the team. Go Gillian!

Nevertheless, Jamie steals the spotlight with his dark, shadowy soul, and monstrous actions. Anyway, if I have to be completely honest, I seriously hope he gets away with it.

Oh-em-gee, just look at him,  he's such a perfect psycho!

Girls will be girls

Girls
Credits

I started watching HBO’s Girls more than a year ago and for some reason I just didn't like it at first, I watched the pilot and decided that it wasn't my kind of show. Recently, I’m not sure why, I decided to give it another try, and I realized that I really misjudged Lena Dunham’s show.

I watched the first two seasons in a week (I have a permanent job and I study, ok guys? So this is a lot for me!) and I am currently watching the third season and still loving it. I think the reason why I enjoy watching Girls so much is because, for the first time since Sex and the City, I see something interesting about women on TV and I’m not talking about sex.

Although I can’t relate with Hannah at all, who is the main character, I appreciate that Lena Dunham has the guts to play a different and unique character that annoys me deeply and more than I can explain, but that’s her. I like to see that Marnie is fucked up and lost and doesn't know what to do with herself but still tries. It amuses me that Shosh is such a neurotic and self-absorbed person and that nobody really cares and they love her anyway. And Jessa… who doesn't love Jessa? She’s so beautiful and glamorous and free, all women want to be her at some point.

I also like the fact that their friendship isn't perfect, that sometimes they want to kill each other and act like complete psychos, but isn't that even a little truth in all female relationships? Yup, it is.

Anyway, it’s my TV suggestion of the week. If you haven’t tried, go ahead! If you have, you probably know what I am talking about.

Brooklyn Nine Nine: the law, without the order

Have you been watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine? If you haven't, you should start now! This sitcom about a NYPD team of detectives is so funny it actually made me like cops shows again. The truth is everyone is sick and tired of the usual CSI stuff, and Brooklyn Nine Nine brings some fresh air to this kind of TV show. The episodes are short (20 minutes) and you just want to keep watching them, one after the other.

The cast

About the writing: the dialogues are full of jokes, some are smart, some are just stupid, which is precisely what we need.. we can't be thinking all the time! Regarding the cast: what a bunch of lovable weirdos! The characters are different of what we are used to and they are hilarious:

Seriously, give it a try.

Orange is the new black, my new addiction

Alex Vause
Credits
I recently started watching Orange is the New Black and it was a breath of fresh air to me when it comes to TV series. Knowing that I have to wait a million years before I have Game of Thrones to watch again, I was so depressed that I decided to give Orange is the New Black a chance and, honestly, I loved it and I highly recommend.

I watched the entire first season in a weekend, and now I’m watching the second, and I think this one is even better (I’m just missing Vause a little)!

The thing I like about this show is that they have really nailed it when they chose the different actresses and the characters are so interesting and different, they are such an awesome group of drama queens/ criminals/ sensitive, smart women, they actually represent all of us.

I also like the way that Piper is forgotten from time to time and the other characters come to the spotlight with flashbacks from their lives before prison. That involves us in their stories and makes us just want to know more and more about every inmate in Litchfield.

Finally, you can also count on some laughs in the middle of all the drama! The dialogues are hilarious and one hour will fly like it was a ten minute episode!
