Big Hero 6: The Sweetest Thing!

You know, having a little brother is one of the best things in life, and I'm speaking from my own experience. Mine recently told me to watch Big Hero 6 because he knows I'm a sucker for animated movies, and I simply adored it.

Big Hero 6 comes from the same Walt Disney team that worked behind "Frozen" and "Wreck-It Ralph"... Judging from my opinion, what a team it must be!

Baymax, the fatty clumsy robot, is purely the sweetest robotic character I've met and Hiro is just a genius kid struggling with the tragic death of his elder brother, Tadashi. They develop a very special bond during their adventurous search for justice in the city of San Fransokyo and they end up being best friends for life. Don't you just love a happy ending?

Newsflash: I cried. Like.. a lot. More than I'm happy to admit.

But seriously, it's a beautiful story about family, friendship, love and lost, and you should go watch it right now!

Hang on, it's almost friday!

I went back to my gallery at weheartit.com for the first time in ages.
It made me laugh so hard and realise that...maybe...I need medication for these people allergies I get sometimes! Argh.

Enjoy Crushers,

When did she stop treating you like a hero?

Remember that time when Saint Hoax used our most beloved Disney princesses to approach the subject of domestic violence? Well, now he's using Disney again, but with our princes instead. The powerful message here is that it's not only women who suffer from this kind of violence. Men tend to suffer in silence, because society doesn't understand that it's no shame to admit that a man can be the victim too. You know what, anyone can be the victim here, and it's not a reason to be ashamed. Let's stop this violence!

Great work, Saint Hoax!

When did he stop treating you like a princess?

This is not the first time Saint Hoax uses the Disney princesses to pass a certain message. First, it was about child abuse and now he’s using our most beloved Disney princesses to approach another subject: domestic violence.

Put an end to it

I believe that this is a really powerful image and that he surely found a way to spread the message against this horrific problem that is still increasing in our society. In Portugal the numbers are still going up every year. This is something very daunting that people shamefully hide in their homes, and sadly pretend it’s not happening.

I won’t even mention the statistics of countries like India, where women are seen like objects and don’t even deserve to be treated like equals in the eyes of most men. It’s disgusting and makes me sick to think that cows are sacred there, but women are rapped, hanged and lead to death by fire, without anyone to protect them. That’s not culture, that’s not mentality, that’s not religion, that’s not politics, that is pure violence and evil.

I think that because I am a woman, this subject is particularly important to me and deeply moves me and that’s why I value all these ways to raise awareness to domestic  - and any other kind of - violence against women.

Hopefully, campaigns like these will help people, I believe we can change our society for the better and I appreciate artists like Saint Hoax for creating new, clever and productive ways to do it!

Like the princesses we are, we should never stop demanding the treatment we deserve!

Walt Disney, the content marketer!

It is weird, right? That awkward combination, those two don’t go together!

Disney is a magical place, a place of bubbles, sunshine and princesses. The thought that your childhood might be linked to the marketing machine where dreams come to die is almost unbearable, right?

Wrong. Grow up.

Walt Disney was a genius content marketer and all that he had was a mouse in a boat and a catchy tune and he set sail. Literally. From then on, Disney greatest hits have followed a formula (yes, I am crushing your dreams, I know) that you can apply to your day to day life dealing with copys and social media managers (those guys just nag all the time).

Walt's formula for great content:

The story is king. Nothing new here, right? Yeah, but Walt did it every time! In an age where no one talked about content marketing, he somehow pulled it off: Walt made you relate to the story no matter who the character was: a rat, a cat or a...a... baby lion king (oh no, here come the tears)!

1) A theme behind every story. No, not a moral, a theme. Think, marketers!  The advantages of creating stories that aim to reach everybody the same way it's ridiculous. Why don't you star off with a niche target. There you may find the opportunity to define your brand, to set the tone and hit home.

2) You can't have all the Good, without having a little Bad. That's right: Villains. A great Villain is the one who does it job, sets the scene so the hero can come in and save the day. As a content marketer you cant' just talk about how "good, great and god's gift to us" your company is. You have to define the problem and see what solutions may be provided, otherwise you're limited in your efforts.

3) That's right, you don't matter. Your serving a greater good, like Walt, you have to know what it is that people like and you have to build it for them. The content you produce needs to match specific trends for the the different mediums, like short form content is taking over Facebook or Twitter, as well as stories filled up with brand's personality.

Ultimately, Walt Disney legacy was to tell great stories, will yours?
